Readings of Burke, Kant and Ruskin led to a mission finding beauty in the most unlikely places. A tonal study of pebbles, moss and fine leaves on a wintery day in the hills.
A tonal study of leaves, seeds and pods in greens, beiges and chocolate. Look closely for the hidden cigarette butt, which reinforces we should never to let minor imperfections ruin the beauty of a thing
Summer and cicadas in the Northern Beaches. Tangled vines punctuated by mustard berries and colours evocative of 16th Century paintings half a world away.
A particularly vivid sunset through the velvety leaves of an old mulberry tree……can you see it? Wrap yourselves in all those shades of apricot, moss green and burgundy pops.

Aneka Manners’ first designs were disco bustiers for dolls made out of cigarette foils found in packets on the side of the road. The cigarette foils in these prints were collected from the few male bankers who still smoke. They are an intentional reconciliation of the innocent girl and the ‘woman who occupies two worlds’ that she became.

Designed for our Florence installation these images of Oleander were taken as a plant which thrives in both Italy and Australia. Poisonous and beautiful this plant is a contradiction.

Carpets of poppies planted every year on a busy freeway. Flowering only for a few months these transient moments are now captured forever.

Magnolia lilliflora when only a single blossom remains. A perfect foil to the overblown pink of our Magnolia and beautiful when worn together.

When Italians graduate in Italy confetti is littered all around the city. I saw this ‘litter’ in Florence, lighting my way on a bad day. It was my literal ‘trail of glitter’. It creates such a sharp, avant-garde style of print which lifts any outfit into the contemporary and clothes the wearer in a salve of glitter.

Ninety Mile Beach and the unexpected beauty that finds a way to survive in such a harsh landscape. Candy-coloured flowers and liquid gold sand.

Two species of Magnolia; Lilliflora and Soulangeana overlaid together to create an atmospheric translation of this dramatic flower. As I said to myself, give me overblown pink and then throw me some melancholy over the top. Because that’s who we are.
